Study track

One of the main activities of the IISA is to oversee education and qualification of professionals in the insurance industry in Southern Africa. There are many branches of study for members to choose from, depending on which area of insurance you work in or wish to learn about.

The level of your IISA membership depends on your level of progress within the IISA study track. The starting level is as an IISA Student, followed by IISA Member, IISA Licentiate, IISA Associate and IISA Fellow. Details of the study track appear in the graphic below. Click on the graphic for more detailed information.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Please register directly with the training institution of your choice.

2. As soon as you have your results, please forward them to the IISA so that we can update your profile accordingly.

3. Once you have qualified you can apply to the IISA to upgrade your membership status

Register directly with the relevant training institution. The IISA does not handle the registration process.
The IISA approves the institutions’ curriculum and processes against our professional requirement. Your qualification is issued by your chosen training provider and your designation is awarded by the IISA. These are independent processes and members are responsible for each one separately.
The process differs depending on the qualification and the training provider you choose. Be sure to find out when you register.
All qualifications are offered on a distance learning basis. Some providers may offer support classes. Check with yours if it does.
Check with your HR or training department as levels of assistance vary from company to company.
Yes. However, this is at the provider’s discretion as there are rules and influences that apply.
Check the diagram on the study track and see if it matches your latest qualification and membership certificate.
